Knowledge Officer/Manager

Location: Bath, Bristol, or Swindon (Hybrid Working)

Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week) 

Salary: Up to £45,000 dependant on experience

Our client is a Top 200 Law Firm searching for a strategically minded Knowledge Manager or Knowledge Officer to join their Risk & Compliance function. This is a hybrid position with flexibility to be based in Bath, Bristol, or Swindon, offering the chance to influence how legal knowledge is accessed and shared across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the firm's knowledge and legal information strategy, including managing internal precedents and practice resources.

  • Administer the firms intranet content related to legal knowledge, ensuring its up to date and accessible to internal users.

  • Oversee the information resources budget, including supplier negotiations, usage tracking, and stakeholder engagement across legal and operational teams.

  • Provide legal research support for solicitors and fee earners, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing across departments.

  • Spearhead a project to standardise and centralise precedent management, enhancing internal workflows and document access.

  • Handle online legal resource platforms, including usage training, licensing arrangements, and user support.

  • Deliver training for new joiners and existing legal staff on digital research tools and internal knowledge systems.

  • Maintain a small number of hard-copy legal resources, ensuring cost-effective and purposeful print use.

What You'll Bring

  • Previous experience in a legal information/knowledge role, ideally within a professional services or law firm setting.

  • Budget management experience and familiarity with supplier negotiation in the context of legal research tools.

  • Qualification in Information Science or Librarianship (e.g. CILIP-accredited degree or equivalent).

  • Strong digital literacy, including working knowledge of legal tech platforms and internal knowledge systems.

  • Ability to think strategically, lead projects independently, and act as a proactive problem solver.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders at all levels.

  • A detail-oriented mindset with strong planning and organisational skills.

  • Familiarity with case or practice management systems and an interest in emerging AI-powered tools in legal services.

Working Environment

  • Hybrid working with flexibility to be based from our Bath, Bristol, or Swindon offices.

  • Occasional travel to other office locations may be required.

  • Open to full-time or part-time working arrangements.
