Position: Locum Speech and Language Therapist Barnet
Location: Edgware, HA8
Start Date: September 2025
Duration: Ongoing (initially 1 day per week, with potential for expansion later in 2025)
Schedule: 1 day per week (flexible)
Hours: 7.5 hours per week (flexible start and finish)
Hourly Rate: £30-£35 (dependent on experience)

On behalf of our client, a leading post-18 special college provision in Barnet, we are seeking a passionate and skilled Locum Speech and Language Therapist to join their innovative team starting September 2025. Our client is dedicated to delivering holistic, effective services through a strong universal offer, working in creative and collaborative ways to address current challenges in Speech and Language Therapy. This is an ideal opportunity for a Band 6 or experienced Band 5 therapist to make a significant impact in a specialist educational setting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inform and deliver students Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) provisions.
  • Embed holistic universal and targeted total communication support across the college.
  • Manage a specialist caseload of students aged 18+ with complex communication needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and learning disabilities.
  • Implement Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) strategies and support sensory integration needs.
  • Deliver training to college staff to enhance communication support practices.
  • Collaborate creatively with the team to address challenges and promote student development.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration and relevant speech and language therapy qualifications.
  • Clinical experience in:
    • Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
    • Learning disabilities
    • Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
    • Complex needs and sensory integration
    • Delivering training to support staff
  • Band 6 or experienced Band 5 level competence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently in a specialist environment.
