        Electrical and Mechanical Data Centre Shift Engineer
Job Description:
Job Purpose:
To ensure the continuous and efficient operation of all electrical and mechanical infrastructure within the data centre. The role involves monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response to support mission-critical systems in a high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily monitoring and maintenance of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAH units, and BMS.
 - Respond to alarms and faults, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions to restore normal operations.
 - Execute and verify preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as per SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs.
 - Conduct site inspections, walk-throughs, and BMS monitoring to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
 - Supervise and coordinate with vendors and contractors during major maintenance or installation activities.
 - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incidents, and system performance.
 - Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially when working with energized equipment.
 - Participate in testing and commissioning of new systems and upgrades.
 - Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives within the facility.
 
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
 - Minimum 35 years of experience in data centre or critical infrastructure environments.
 - Strong knowledge of MEP systems, including MV/LV electrical systems, chillers, pumps, and fuel systems.
 - Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier standards and TIA-942-B.
 - Proficiency in BMS and CAFM systems.
 - Experience with LOTO procedures, emergency shutdowns, and redundancy management.
 - Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
 - Willingness to work in shifts and be on-call for emergencies.
 
Preferred Skills:
- CAD/Revit proficiency for reviewing and updating technical drawings.
 - Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
 - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 - Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE, IEC).
