About the Role

Our partner is one of the largest regional healthcare services in Victoria. The Emergency Department manages a high-acuity and diverse case mix and is a designated regional trauma service.

In this role, the Emergency Consultant provides specialist emergency medical care and ensures smooth patient flow for patients presenting to the Emergency Department. During clinical shifts, the Consultant provides clinical leadership to optimise patient outcomes through collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

The Emergency Consultant supervises Registrars and Junior Medical Officers (JMOs), contributes to teaching junior doctors and medical students, collaborates with other specialists as required, and provides out-of-hours services including some weekends.

The Consultant contributes to strategic planning and quality improvement of clinical care and service delivery, helping to promote our partner as a leading regional health service provider.

The Emergency Department includes

  • 36-bed ED with high-acuity and diverse case mix
  • Designated regional trauma service
  • 3 state-of-the-art resuscitation bays
  • 2 negative-pressure isolation cubicles
  • 13 additional acute-care cubicles
  • Dedicated Fast Track area with seven cubicles and a consultation room
  • 9-bed Short Stay Unit, including one isolation room
  • CT scan room, ultrasound room and two new X-ray rooms
  • Behavioural assessment room, mental health consult spaces, forensic room

Who Were Looking For

  • Specialist registration with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (or equivalent)
  • Expertise in high-acuity emergency care and trauma management
  • Strong leadership, supervision and teaching skills
  • Commitment to quality improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration
