About the job Waste Acceptance Manager
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
• To ensure compliance and efficient management of waste streams at a landfill or waste management facility.
• To ensure that waste is processed and disposed of safely and effectively, while also maintaining regulatory compliance and promoting sustainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
Monitor and analyze incoming waste streams for compliance with acceptance criteria. Develop and implement waste acceptance procedures, train staff on waste management and regulatory requirements, and manage daily operations. Provide technical support to the Sales team, analyze waste data, and prepare reports for management and stakeholders. Lead research and development on waste management technologies, treatment processes, and sustainable practices to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Regulatory Compliance
Establish and maintain waste screening, testing, and sampling procedures for regulatory compliance. Develop and implement waste acceptance procedures to improve efficiency and compliance. Prepare and submit reports to management, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders. Stay updated on waste management legislation and make necessary adjustments.
Financial Management
Monitor and analyze KPIs and financial data to track revenue performance. Collaborate with the sales team to develop strategies for revenue growth. Track and report financial data related to waste acceptance operations.
Research and Development
Research waste management technologies and sustainable practices to optimize operations. Participate in projects focused on reducing environmental impact and improving waste treatment processes.
Health and Safety
Participate in health and safety programs, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementing safety protocols. Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to maintain a safe workplace.
QUALIFICATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hazardous waste management.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• 5 years’ experience in the management of a hazardous waste landfill
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in waste management.
• Experience in data analysis, health and safety procedures, and operational efficiency.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of financial tracking and reporting.
