PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB (SUMMARY)
• To manage, maintain and improve safety in the workplace.
• To ensure that legislation is adhered to and complied with in order to plan, implement, monitor and review
the health, safety, environmental and quality strategies.
• To undertake inspections, carry out accident investigations, keep records and write safety case reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic planning and SHE management
Assist with creating and updating the SHE Manager, ensuring all tasks are planned with relevant JSAs and risk assessments. Develop and submit a list of PPE for employees based on roles within the RAD, and ensure maintenance schedules for the fleet are followed. Set monthly and annual SHE objectives, provide guidance during the budgeting phase, and conduct risk assessments along with developing a HSE gap analysis for the RAD
SHE awareness and training
Promote a strong SHE culture within the team, ensuring staff training is up to date and evaluating potential training suppliers at the coast. Ensure all site training and inductions are relevant, and staff are inducted on time in collaboration with the training department. Ensure all personnel are fully informed of SHE policies and procedures.
Site compliance and certifications
Implement corporate safety policies for the landfill, national road, and Rent-A-Drum, ensuring compliance with laws. Complete weekly PTOs, conduct regular audits and inspections for management insight, and support ISO and OHSAS audits, certifications, and compliance.
Communication and reporting
Ensure regular SHE meetings and daily safety/toolbox talks are conducted on-site, maintaining an open-door policy for staff SHE reporting. Assist management with accurate monthly SHE reporting to the Group and ensure HSE signage is procured and placed according to OSH requirements. Support information gathering for Tennaxia reporting and participate in HSE meetings, taking minutes for follow-up actions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety, or a related field is required.
• Three (3) years’ experience performing HSE duties
• ISO accredited OR 2 years’ experience in this field
• In-depth understanding of relevant ISO standards and reporting techniques
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Tools and software relevant to job functions.
• Thorough knowledge of current health and safety best practices and standards
• Ability to respond to emergency situations
• Valid driver’s license.
