PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Project Manager is required to oversee the mechanical and electrical installation activities of the ETP currently being constructed. The incumbent will need to manage the operations, maintenance, project and contract obligations of the Effluent Water Treatment Plants for the company. In addition the incumbent must oversee and coordinate all activities relating to the intake and treatment of the third party waste streams as well as the leachate and the treatment thereof for release to various clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of the production of the effluent plant, according to key performance indicators. The incumbent will manage the personnel on the plant as well as the maintenance required on the plant to ensure availability of the plant at all times when required.

Essentially the position requirement involves the management responsibility for:

Manage plant operations, production efficiency, and plant health optimization. Oversee maintenance, maximize ETP revenue, and handle client feedback, contract finance, and HR. Drive technical improvements, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage the contract and ETP facility.

Key Knowledge Areas

The incumbent will ensure the optimal operation of the effluent plant, including teaching process controllers advanced skills in operation, maintenance, fault finding, and correction for pumps, chemical dosing and procurement, filter press, dissolved air flotation, clarification, evaporation, reverse osmosis, and laboratory analyses to meet contractual specifications.

PROJECT PLANNING AND DESIGN

Responsible for building, tracking, and closing the project, including accurately identifying the project scope. Plan all project steps, considering completion dates, milestones, tasks, time, costs, and integration of contractors and consultants. Ensure project design meets criteria and customer requirements, complete plans on time using MS Project, and re-plan as necessary to meet deadlines.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The incumbent will oversee project planning, implementation, and commissioning, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with contractual and statutory requirements. They will manage operations and maintenance of the effluent treatment plant, financial planning, and scheduling of work, while ensuring SHEQ standards are met. The role includes supervising electrical and mechanical installation teams, monitoring progress, ensuring safety on-site, and maintaining plant operations to maximize revenue. A minimum of 20 years’ experience in effluent treatment or similar facilities is required.

QUALIFICATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

• Preferably Masters in Project Management
