About the job Project Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION (Reports to the Commercial Manager)

  • To oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of projects within the integrated waste sector such as energy and mining 
  • To support the Commercial team by ensuring efficient and sustainable waste management practices, compliance with regulatory standards, and the alignment of projects with company objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical and Engineering Support: Develop waste management plans, conduct feasibility studies, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Quantity Surveying: Prepare cost estimates, support tendering processes, and track project expenditures.

Financial Management: Manage project budgets, conduct financial studies, and ensure accurate reporting on project performance.

Project Planning and Execution: Create and manage detailed project plans, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Adhere to contractual obligations and professional codes of conduct (e.g., ISO, SQAS, IWMSA).

Support Commercial and Development Needs: Collaborate across teams, analyze regulations, and assist with market analysis and technical offers.

Intergroup Collaboration: Implement international best practices and promote technology transfer mastered by Séché Group.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with clients, engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success.

Health and Safety: Adhere to Company SHE policies and ensure ISO accreditation.

Behavior Based Safety (BBS): Implement BBS principles, set targets, and manage improvement processes based on data analysis 

Environmental Compliance: Implement sustainable practices and oversee environmental management plans.

Strategic and Operational Management: Lead project change management, support commercial negotiations, and drive process improvements.

Communication and Feedback: Facilitate clear communication on hazards and operations, and engage employees in risk assessments and audits.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional registration with relevant industry bodies
  • In-depth knowledge of OSH Act, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, risk assessment, incident investigation, legal liability, budgeting, and subcontracting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Projects and report writing
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in producing and reviewing engineering drawings. 
  • Minimum of 7 years’ civil engineering experience
  • Experience in the mining waste management and energy sector will be an added advantage 
  • Chemical background will be an added advantage
