General Statement of Duties
This position is assigned to the Sheriff's Office Civil Processing Section. The employee performs a variety of office support and/or technical tasks to accomplish the specialized processing of information, documents, or materials. Work functions are concentrated in the areas of records and reports, data entry, and files.

Distinguishing Features
An employee in this class independently performs a variety of tasks including some technical tasks, in support of a work process or program requiring the selection of the most appropriate action from several alternatives; each alternative has some guidelines requiring interpretation and knowledge of organizational functions. Major duties include document completion and verification, statistical, financial, and other record keeping, public contact, file maintenance, and office equipment operation. Work may involve one process or several related processes. A significant knowledge of office practices and procedures, programs, organizational structure, and services is required to initiate, monitor, review, and maintain a variety of documents to determine or obtain compliance. Work is differentiated by an increase in the degree of independence, and program or process knowledge applied.

Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from high school or GED and one year experience in data entry. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sort, compile and file criminal, civil, arrest, citation and incident reports;
Perform a high volume of data entry into specialized database with extreme attention to detail and accuracy;
Exercise independent judgment and use of analytical skills to determine proper recording of information;
Operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, scanner, fax machine for extended periods of time;
Communicate effectively and coherently over telephone and in person to internal and external customers;
Stand for limited periods of time while processing requests, compiling information and filing documentation;
Remain sedentary for extended periods while sorting, compiling, performing data entry;
Engage in frequent walking around worksite and internal and external offices delivering legal documentation, retrieving legal processes and gathering supplies;
Perform multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent change of task and emphasis on strict deadlines and time pressures in a distracting environment and able to adhere to quotas as necessary;
Work closely with others as part of a team and individually on tasks;
Other assigned duties as necessary.
