The Finance & Account specialist will be responsible for supporting financial operations and accounting processes for our Partner who is a leading F&B business. This remote role involves managing budgets, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and optimizing financial performance. The Finance & Account specialist will work closely with the restaurant's management team to provide strategic financial insights and support decision-making to drive profitability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor key financial metrics such as food cost, labor cost, and gross profit margin.
- Cost Control & Efficiency:
- Track and analyze operational costs, including food, beverage, labor, and overhead, to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement cost-saving measures and financial controls to improve profitability.
- Collaborate with kitchen and procurement teams to optimize food inventory levels and reduce waste.
- Accounting & Compliance:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including sales tax, health regulations, and labor laws.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with accounting standards.
- Cash Flow & Liquidity Management:
- Monitor cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for daily operations.
- Manage banking relationships, loans, and credit facilities.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage working capital requirements.
- Inventory & Costing Systems:
- Implement and maintain restaurant inventory management systems to ensure accurate tracking and valuation of food and beverage items.
- Work with the purchasing team to ensure that product pricing and vendor relationships align with financial goals.
- Financial Planning & Strategy:
- Assist the restaurant owner/management team in developing long-term financial strategies.
- Support decision-making by providing financial insights and recommendations for menu pricing, expansions, and capital investments.
- Prepare financial models for new business initiatives, renovations, or marketing campaigns.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Work closely with the operations and kitchen teams to align financial and operational goals.
- Train restaurant staff on financial protocols, such as budgeting, invoice management, and cost control practices.
- Ensure timely payroll processing and employee compensation accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software's and POS systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- Solid understanding of restaurant operations, food costing, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and tax laws for the hospitality industry.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with restaurant management software (e.g., Toast, Square, Upserve).
- Prior experience managing multiple restaurant locations or a chain of restaurants.
