Position Overview:

As the Research and Technology Manager in Polymer and Plastic Manufacturing, you will play a pivotal role in driving the research and development initiatives within our organization. You will lead a team of talented scientists and engineers, guiding them in the discovery, development, and implementation of new materials, processes, and technologies to enhance our product offerings and maintain our competitive edge in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive research strategy aligned with the company's goals and industry trends, focusing on polymer and plastic materials and manufacturing technologies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of researchers, engineers, and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • New Product Development: Drive the development of new polymer and plastic materials, formulations, and processes to meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, market trends, and competitive intelligence in polymer science and plastic manufacturing, evaluating their potential impact on our business and recommending strategic investments or partnerships.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely execution, effective resource allocation, and alignment with project objectives and milestones.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments such as production, quality assurance, and sales to ensure seamless technology transfer, product commercialization, and customer satisfaction.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure all research activities comply with relevant quality standards, regulations, and safety protocols, maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Budgeting and Resource Planning: Develop and manage departmental budgets, resource allocation plans, and capital expenditure proposals to support research and technology development initiatives effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ph.D. or masters degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience in polymer and plastic research, development, and manufacturing within a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of polymer chemistry, materials characterization techniques, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in project management, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and safety protocols in the polymer and plastics industry.
