We are looking for Tax Manager who is a key position within a company or an accounting firm that focuses on overseeing and managing various tax-related functions. This role requires a deep understanding of tax regulations, compliance, and strategic planning to ensure the organization's tax liabilities are managed effectively while maximizing tax savings within legal boundaries.
Responsibilities :
- Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely preparation, filing, and payment of all taxes, including income tax, sales tax, VAT/GST, property tax, and other relevant taxes. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Tax Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement tax strategies that align with the organization's financial goals. This involves identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities while adhering to legal requirements.
- Risk Management: Assess potential tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Provide guidance on potential tax implications of business decisions, mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions.
- Financial Reporting: Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to accurately reflect tax positions in financial statements and reports. Ensure proper documentation to support tax positions.
- Audit and Representation: Act as the primary point of contact for tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities. Prepare and present required documentation during audits.
- Team Management: Supervise and lead a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and support in their roles. Allocate responsibilities and monitor their performance.
- Stakeholder Communication: Interact with internal stakeholders, senior management, and external partners (such as tax consultants, auditors, and legal advisors) to communicate tax strategies, updates, and implications.
- Research and Analysis: Stay updated on changes in tax regulations, case law, and industry trends. Conduct research to analyze complex tax issues and provide informed recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required. Many Tax Managers also hold a master's degree in taxation, accounting, or business administration.
- Professional Certification: A CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional certification is often required. Additionally, a Certified Tax Manager (CTM) designation or other relevant tax certifications can be beneficial.
- Experience: Significant experience in tax compliance, planning, and strategy is essential. Usually, a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in tax, with some years in a managerial or supervisory role, is expected.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of tax laws, regulations, and industry-specific tax issues is crucial. Experience in dealing with international tax matters can be advantageous if the organization operates globally.
- Leadership and Communication Skills: As a senior manager, strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively managing teams and collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Analytical Abilities: The ability to analyze complex tax issues, conduct research, and make informed decisions is critical in this role.
