Lead Analyst at the Lynn Institute Community Garden at Chesapeake (Americorps Position)
Organization and Program Description:
The Lynn Institute for Healthcare Research, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to creating healthy, hopeful communities in under-resourced areas of Oklahoma County. The focus of Lynn is on access to food and health, resource connection, garden and green space creation, transportation, community improvement, and building relationships and collaboration with like-minded partners and with community residents.
Position Overview:
The Lead Analyst is a vital member of our gardening team, reporting directly to the Garden Director. This role involves overseeing and executing the harvest and business analysis efforts around the garden and helping with executing the raised garden bed plan. Together with the Lynn Institute team, the Lead Analyst will work with Lynn employees, community members, and other community partners to accomplish Lynn Institute garden efforts.
AmeriCorps is a National Service program and is not a traditional staff role for employment at the Lynn Institute or the federal government. Upon successfully completing the service term, the member will receive an Education Award of $1,459.26 to spend on education expenses and/or qualifying student loans. The service term will conclude by August 31 with opportunities to continue serving in another term.
Responsibilities:
- Lead analysis operations around the garden.
- Develop and implement systems for collecting important data points.
- Measure and record data for achieving business objectives around the garden and community
- Includes making reports of final analysis for presentation to the Garden Director
- Lead inventory and maintenance of garden hand tools.
- Keep up-to-date inventory of hand tools in the sheds
- Keep hand tools sharp and maintained through scheduled maintenance
- Works in tandem with Garden Director and Lead Gardener.
- Responsible for bringing any recommendations to the Garden Director.
- Assist in the implementation of the garden plan throughout the year.
- Assist in daily operations to achieve growing goals:
- Clearing beds
- Covering beds
- Shaping beds
- Amending beds
- Planting beds
- Harvesting beds
- Composting excess material
- Assist in the handling of the harvest from the beds.
- Help refine educational material for the garden.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of sustainable and organic gardening practices, preferred, but not essential.
- A strong willingness to learn.
- A desire to have a transformative impact on communities for good.
- Ability to operate and maintain gardening tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Physical Requirements:
Position will be required to conduct work in varied weather conditions (heat, cold, dust, rain, etc.) Lifting or carrying, repetitive motion, ability to lift 50 lbs., extensive walking, and utilization of small to medium-sized garden equipment.
