About the job Associate Director - Business Development
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to join the team as an Associate Director who is committed to advancing economic growth and prosperity on the African continent in areas such as - Agriculture, Climate & Energy, Education, Access to Markets and Finance, Digital Economy and Health. The Associate Director will play a crucial role in collaborating with peers and leading and supporting teams to deliver quality results to the firm's clients. The candidate will be responsible for driving business development and helping to set direction for the firm. The role requires a seasoned leader with entrepreneurial drive. Our teams work across several issue areas and knowledge domains, requiring a high degree of creativity, adaptability, and responsiveness. The ideal candidate will combine a strong executive demeanor, impeccable communication skills and confidence in functioning at the highest levels of client organizations. The ideal candidate should possess and have a proven track record of developing new client relationships and the ability to unlock and secure new business.
What does the job involve
- Business development: Identify new business opportunities, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Enhance the organizations reputation and expertise through knowledge development and thought leadership.
- Provide high level client management, provide expert input, and ensure quality control of client delivery, build trusted advisor relationships with client executives and senior stakeholders in relevant organizations and fields.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to consultant teams, provide necessary resources for consultant teams to be able to deliver on their work, play a role in the professional development of junior consultants
- Contribute towards setting the direction, strategy and priorities of the firm. Develop processes, structures, teams, and workflows to deliver strategic business objectives and develop efficient systems.
Qualifications
- An advanced degree, preferably an MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field
- Experience as an Associate Partner or Principal (tier one or two consulting firm exp. an added advantage)
- Distinct record of professional achievement and impact
- Deep understanding and expertise of Africa's economic and development agendas
- Demonstrated experience of working directly with decision makers in private, public and philanthropic sectors
- An innovative thinker who can communicate complex ideas effectively (both verbally and in writing)
- Possess strong networks across various sectors (preferably - Agriculture, Climate & Energy, Education, Access to Markets and Finance, Digital Economy and Health) at a country and regional level
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
