A rapidly expanding groundwork company in Stafford is seeking a full-time Assistant Buyer to join its procurement team to assist with the efficient running of the material purchasing function by ensuring specified materials are available on site to meet programmes.

The successful candidate will contribute positively towards saving the business money, minimising waste and increasing profits through sourcing suppliers, negotiating and managing suppliers through the whole procurement process.

As the Assistant Buyer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing and purchasing materials through preferred suppliers, ensuring profits are maximised.
  • Collating documentation, issuing material tenders and evaluating supplier quotations.
  • Handling material orders, adhering to agreed timescales in line with site programmes and specification.
  • Managing invoicing and addressing any queries promptly.
  • Generating monthly spend reports.
  • Assisting with site call-offs as required.


The Assistant Buyer will have the following skills and experience:

  • Effective communicator with good negotiation skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and the ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of background in procurement of building and construction materials would be a distinct advantage.


You will be working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from the office in Stafford.

Appointment will be subject to right to work checks and satisfactory references.
