Our client is a leading provider of support services for individuals with learning disabilities, dedicated to empowering people to lead fulfilling and independent lives. As they continue to grow their learner services provision, they are seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of Learner Services to lead their learning and development function and deliver high-quality, person-centred programmes for vulnerable adults.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Board, the Head of Learner Services will lead all aspects of learner services and training delivery across the organisation. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership and learning and development management experience, ideally within adult social care, supported learning, or services supporting vulnerable adults.
The role will focus on delivering engaging and inclusive learning programmes, improving learner outcomes, managing and developing teams, and ensuring high standards of quality, safeguarding, and compliance across all provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop personalised learning and development programmes for adults with learning disabilities and autism.
- Manage, support, and develop learner services teams, trainers, and employment coaches.
- Monitor learner progress and ensure high-quality delivery, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion across all services.
- Build strong relationships with families, employers, external agencies, and stakeholders.
- Support learner recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression.
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership to develop and expand learner opportunities.
- Stay informed on best practice and innovative approaches to adult learning and development.
What We're Looking For
- Proven management experience within learning and development, adult education, social care, or services supporting vulnerable adults.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism, and additional support needs.
- Good understanding of adult learning, safeguarding, and inclusive practice.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable adults.
- Relevant qualification in learning and development, teaching, health and social care, or a related field.
- Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disabilities and Autism would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
Appointment will be subject to DBS clearance, right to work checks, and satisfactory references.
