Operations Manager

 Job Description:

Operations Manager

Financial Planning Firm | Stockport
£50,000 – £65,000 | Office-based/Hybrid

Some Operations Manager roles are about keeping things ticking over.

This one is about helping move a business forward.

We're recruiting for an established, independent Chartered financial planning firm in Stockport that has ambitious plans for its future.

They're looking for an experienced Operations Manager who has already worked within a wealth management or financial planning business in a similar operational role and understands the environment, the people and the standards that come with it.

You'll work closely with the business owner, helping turn ideas into action and making sure the things the business wants to achieve actually happen.

This is an opportunity to sit at the heart of the firm, bringing structure, accountability and momentum to its plans.

The opportunity

This is a broad leadership role rather than a narrow operational one.

You'll work across people, projects, systems and processes, helping translate the firm's longer-term strategy into practical priorities and making sure those priorities are delivered.

That could mean improving an internal process, coordinating a business-critical project, developing members of the team, managing suppliers or helping the firm explore how technology, automation and AI could make it even better.

You don't need to be the technical expert in every area.

You do need to be the person who can bring people together, create clarity and get things moving.

About the firm

They're an independent, privately owned Chartered financial planning business with long-standing client relationships, some spanning decades.

It's an established and respected firm, but one that is very much looking forward.

The business has ambitious growth plans while remaining committed to its independence, its clients and the values it has been built around.

You'll therefore be joining somewhere with a strong foundation — but plenty of opportunity to influence what comes next.

What we're looking for

First and foremost, you'll need to come from a wealth management or financial planning firm and already have experience working in a similar operational role.

That sector experience matters. You'll understand how a financial planning business operates and be able to bring that knowledge with you from day one.

Alongside that, we're looking for strong people leadership experience and evidence that you've successfully implemented change and improved business performance. You'll be organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing projects and competing priorities.

Just as importantly, you'll have the confidence to challenge constructively, communicate well with different people and turn conversations and ideas into tangible action.

An interest in technology, automation and AI would be particularly welcome — but this is not an IT role.

What's in it for you?

  • £50,000 – £65,000, depending on experience
  • Office-based/hybrid working
  • 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays, with additional entitlement for loyalty
  • Company pension with salary sacrifice options
  • A supportive, experienced team
  • Genuine long-term career development
  • The autonomy and visibility to make a meaningful impact

If you're already working within wealth management or financial planning and you're looking for an Operations Manager role where you can genuinely influence the future of a business rather than simply maintain it, we'd love to hear from you.
