Data Engineer - Banking Sector, Thailand

Position Overview

Leading Thai bank seeks an experienced Data Engineer to strengthen our data infrastructure and analytics capabilities. This role combines remote work flexibility with periodic in-office collaboration, supporting our digital transformation initiatives in the banking sector.

Work Arrangement

- 6-month contract (potential for extension)

- Work From Home (WFH) arrangement

- 2-3 days office presence required monthly for team meetings and stakeholder presentations

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain data pipelines for critical banking operations, including transaction processing, customer analytics, and regulatory reporting

- Implement robust ETL processes complying with Thai banking regulations and data protection standards

- Design data models that support both operational banking needs and analytical requirements

- Collaborate with risk management, compliance, and business intelligence teams

- Create automated data quality checks and monitoring systems specific to banking operations

- Support Basel requirements and regulatory reporting infrastructure

Technical Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably in banking or financial services

- Strong proficiency in:

- SQL and Python

- Data warehousing (preferably Snowflake or Oracle)

- ETL tools and real-time data processing

- Banking security protocols and data protection standards

- Experience with financial data modeling and banking systems integration

Required Skills

- Strong understanding of banking data structures and financial transactions

- Knowledge of Thai banking regulations and data protection standards

- Excellent communication skills in English (Thai language skills are a plus)

- Experience working in remote teams with demonstrated self-management abilities

- Familiarity with banking security protocols and data governance

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Thai banking systems

- Knowledge of PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act) compliance requirements

- Previous experience in Thai financial institutions

- Familiarity with Bank of Thailand reporting requirements

- Understanding of SWIFT and other banking protocols
