About the Role

Our client, a leading construction group in Nigeria, is seeking an experienced MEP Engineer with an Electrical focus to support the delivery of a new school construction project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and ensuring the smooth execution of all MEP works, with a primary emphasis on electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical & MEP Oversight

  • Oversee and coordinate all MEP works, with major focus on electrical installations.
  • Supervise execution of power distribution, lighting systems, grounding, and low-current systems.
  • Ensure all electrical installations meet project specifications, Nigerian regulations, and international standards.

Technical Execution & Quality Assurance

  • Review, prepare, and validate MEP shop drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor daily site progress and promptly resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure proper selection and quality of materials used on-site.
  • Support testing and commissioning of electrical systems.

Coordination & Supervision

  • Coordinate with civil, architectural, and other engineering disciplines to avoid clashes and ensure smooth project workflow.
  • Manage subcontractors and monitor their work to ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Follow site HSE requirements and promote safe practices across teams.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare daily and weekly technical reports.
  • Prepare and follow up on material requests and procurement needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure project documentation is up to date.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in MEP Engineering, with strong exposure to electrical systems.
  • Experience in building projects; prior experience on school or institutional buildings is an advantage.
  • Previous work experience in Africa is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
