About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Fruit Packhouse Manager to oversee daily operations at a high-volume fruit processing and packing facility in regional Australia. The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing fresh produce environments, leading production teams, maintaining strict quality standards, and driving operational performance across all stages of the packhouse process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day packhouse operations, including grading, packing, and dispatch of fruit.
• Lead, mentor, and develop production teams to achieve daily output and quality targets.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, Freshcare, and export food safety standards.
• Oversee inventory, equipment, and cold chain management to minimise downtime.
• Liaise with growers, logistics, QA, and supply chain teams for smooth operations.
• Analyse productivity and yield data to identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare operational reports and production forecasts for management.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience in a fruit or fresh produce packhouse management role.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• In-depth understanding of food safety, hygiene, and quality control systems.
• Ability to work under pressure during peak harvest periods.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Technical understanding of packing machinery and cold storage systems.

Desirable

• Experience in citrus, stone fruit, avocado, or table grape industries.
• Forklift licence or logistics coordination experience.
• Proficiency in production tracking or ERP systems.
