Position Summary
Our client is offering full-time ongoing employment to support commercial solar and electrical installation projects across regional Victoria and New South Wales. The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in accordance with Australian Standards, workplace laws, and the National Employment Standards. The position forms an essential part of the companys renewable energy operations, contributing to safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & Maintenance
- Install, test, connect, commission, and maintain wiring, electrical control systems, switchboards, and electrical equipment for commercial projects.
- Inspect, diagnose, and locate electrical faults using testing devices and technical diagrams.
- Install and maintain circuit breakers, fuses, relays, switches, cables, solar components, and related electrical hardware.
Commercial Solar Systems (Renewable Energy Projects)
- Install, wire, connect, and commission commercial solar PV systems and associated equipment.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on solar arrays, inverters, monitoring systems, and electrical protection devices.
- Ensure installations meet Clean Energy Council (CEC) standards and all relevant electrical regulations.
Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the Electrical Safety Act, AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules), and other applicable Australian Standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, site safety checks, and implement safe work procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical test results, commissioning data, and service logs.
Technical Problem-Solving
- Analyse electrical schematics, drawings, and plans to determine installation layouts, cable routes, and connection points.
- Identify technical issues and implement effective solutions to maintain system performance and reliability.
- Liaise with supervisors, engineers, suppliers, and clients to ensure timely resolution of electrical faults.
Tools, Equipment & System Operation
- Operate and maintain specialised electrical tools and testing instruments (multimeters, insulation testers, solar analysers, etc.).
- Use trade-specific software and digital tools for job reporting and compliance documentation.
Teamwork & Project Support
- Work collaboratively with installation teams, apprentices, and project managers on commercial electrical and solar projects.
- Provide guidance to junior staff and assist in maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety across project sites.
Skills & Experience Required
- Recognised electrical trade qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial electrical installation and maintenance.
- Experience in solar PV or renewable energy systems (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, standards, and technical documentation.
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
Employment Conditions
- Remuneration will meet or exceed all applicable Australian award requirements, plus superannuation at the statutory rate.
- Leave entitlements provided in accordance with the National Employment Standards (NES).
- Employment is offered to support the employees visa application and is subject to obtaining and maintaining valid Australian work rights.
ANNUAL SALARY: $76K TO $82K
