Fire Technician

We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated Fire Technician with strong technical and problem-solving skills to join our growing team. This role involves hands-on work with fire protection systems, including the installation, servicing, and maintenance of electronic fire safety equipment.

About the Role

As a Fire Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems such as fire alarm panels, sprinkler systems, and emergency warning equipment. You'll work with technical documentation, diagnostic tools, and specialised software to ensure systems operate reliably and in full compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, program, and commission fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and detection devices
  • Inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems according to industry standards
  • Identify and repair faults in wiring, sensors, control panels, and system components
  • Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manuals
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation using platforms like Uptick, Dropbox, and Microsoft Excel
  • Provide training to clients on the use and maintenance of fire systems
  • Coordinate with clients to schedule service calls and system repairs
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant AS/NZS fire safety standards and OHS guidelines
  • Plan and manage daily workloads efficiently
  • Be available for flexible hours, including travel and overtime when required

Skills and Experience

  • Trade qualification in Fire Protection, Electrical, or a related technical field
  • Proven experience in the installation and servicing of fire protection systems
  • Strong understanding of electronics and troubleshooting methods
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools
  • Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and system schematics
  • Working knowledge of fire safety codes and standards, or willingness to learn
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Valid driver's licence and relevant certifications (preferred)

Highly Regarded

  • Experience in AutoCAD or technical drafting
  • Background in project management or team leadership
  • Knowledge of or experience in electrical engineering
    Salary $75,000 - $80,000 pa
