The Role

As a Floor Finisher, you will be responsible for the high-quality installation of a variety of flooring types including carpet, laminate, hybrid, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), and other floor coverings across residential, builder, and commercial projects. This hands-on role requires precision workmanship, the ability to assess and resolve complex installation challenges, and compliance with Australian Standards (AS 2455 & AS 1884:2021). You will work closely with project supervisors, estimators, and clients to ensure installations are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard.
You will also represent the client on-site, upholding our professional service standards and maintaining excellent communication and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and install a range of floor coverings with precision.
• Prepare and treat subfloors (including moisture barriers, underlays, levelling).
• Execute complex joins, transitions, trims, and expansion breaks.
• Interpret and follow job sheets, plans, and specifications.
• Ensure all work complies with manufacturer guidelines and Australian Standards.
• Maintain safe and clean work practices, adhering to WHS regulations.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other trades.
• Complete documentation and report any site issues promptly.
• Deliver installations that meet the clients quality and service standards.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 to 8 years experience in floor installation (carpet and/or hard flooring).
• Proficiency in:
• Carpet installations, including complex joins, patterned layouts, and stairs.
• Hardfloor installations (laminate, hybrid, vinyl planks) including floating, glue-down, and click-lock systems.

• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards:
• AS 2455 for textile floor coverings (carpet).
• AS 1884:2021 for resilient flooring and subfloor preparation.
• Expertise in subfloor preparation including screeding, levelling compounds, moisture barriers, grinding, and feather finishing.
• Ability to meet daily productivity targets while delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid Australian or South African drivers licence.
• White Card (or willingness to obtain).
• Physically fit, punctual, and reliable.

Desirable Attributes

• Trade qualification or industry certification in flooring installation.
• Experience on builder/construction sites.
• Ability to work independently or lead a small team.
• Familiarity with acoustic/thermal underlay requirements and moisture testing procedures.
• A proactive, solutions-focused attitude with a commitment to craftsmanship.

SALARY $76K - $90K ANNUALLY
