Our Client operates a commercial blueberry farm with a strong focus on fruit quality, research-driven production, and efficient delivery to market. The business manages high-yield production systems and a defined seasonal harvest window, requiring dedicated coordination of supply, packing, and distribution to maintain product quality and meet market demand. They currently have a position available for a Supply and Distribution Manager

Position Overview

The Supply and Distribution Manager is responsible for coordinating the movement of blueberries from harvest through packing, storage, and delivery to customers. The role ensures that fruit is handled efficiently, meets quality expectations, and is delivered on time to both domestic and export markets.

The position works closely with farm management, packing teams, logistics providers, and customers to balance production volumes, maintain product quality, and support the commercial objectives of the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Production & Supply Coordination

• Work with farm management to plan harvest volumes and timing across different growing systems (polytunnels and in-field production).
• Align supply with the seasonal harvest window (July to December) and peak production periods.
• Monitor yield outputs and adjust supply planning to reflect crop performance and market demand.

Packing & Dispatch Management

• Coordinate daily packing schedules to ensure fruit is processed quickly after harvest.
• Oversee grading, packing, and labelling processes to meet customer and retailer requirements.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks in packhouse operations to maintain throughput during peak season.

Logistics & Distribution

• Organise transport and delivery of fresh produce to local markets and export channels.
• Liaise with freight companies and cold storage providers to maintain product integrity during transit.
• Coordinate shipment schedules and ensure timely dispatch of orders.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure fruit meets quality standards for size, appearance, and shelf life, consistent with the company's focus on premium product.
• Maintain documentation and traceability across the supply chain.
• Work with internal teams to ensure compliance with food safety and export requirements.

Supplier & Customer Liaison

• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, service providers, and buyers.
• Communicate supply availability and delivery schedules with customers.
• Respond to issues such as delays, quality concerns, or changes in demand.

Operational Monitoring & Reporting

• Track key operational metrics such as volumes packed, delivery times, and product losses.
• Provide regular updates to management on supply chain performance and risks.
• Support decision-making through basic data analysis and reporting.

Team Coordination

• Supervise staff involved in packing, dispatch, and logistics activities.
• Assist with rostering during peak harvest periods.
• Promote safe work practices and efficient teamwork across operations.

Skills and Experience Required

• Previous experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations within agriculture or fresh produce.
• Practical understanding of packing, storage, and transport of perishable goods.
• Ability to coordinate multiple activities in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with growers, packhouses, or distribution networks is advantageous.
