About Us

Our client is seeking a motivated and skilled Refrigeration Mechanic who is responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing, fault diagnosis, and repair of commercial and industrial refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. The role involves working across government, commercial, and remote community sites throughout the Northern Territory and Western Australia, ensuring refrigeration systems operate safely and efficiently in demanding environments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake the following duties:

• Install, commission, and test commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning systems and associated equipment
• Diagnose faults in refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems using specialised diagnostic equipment
• Repair and replace compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, motors, switches, and related components
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on refrigeration and cooling systems
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency repair requests in commercial and remote environments
• Conduct system pressure testing, leak detection, evacuation, and refrigerant charging procedures
• Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications for installation and repair work
• Ensure refrigeration systems comply with Australian safety standards and environmental regulations
• Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports, and job documentation
• Travel to remote sites to conduct repairs, servicing, and installation works as required
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and site representatives regarding technical issues and project requirements
• Assist with project mobilisation, installation works, and commissioning activities for new contracts and service projects
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety procedures and company policies

Skills and Experience Required

• Relevant qualification equivalent to Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration
• Minimum of three years' relevant industry experience
• Strong experience in commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning systems
• Ability to independently diagnose and repair refrigeration and mechanical faults
• Experience working in remote or regional environments highly regarded
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Working Conditions

• Full-time role involving travel to remote locations across the Northern Territory and Western Australia
• May involve on-call duties, overtime, and emergency breakdown response work
• Work includes indoor, outdoor, and remote-site environments

Salary: $82k - $92k p.a.
