The Chief Steward oversees the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen and dining areas, managing the stewarding team to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and safety. This role includes managing inventory, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and train the stewarding team to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and dining areas.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, kitchen utensils, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient dishwashing and cleaning operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular inspections and audits.
  • Assist with menu planning and cost control related to kitchen operations.
  • Maintain and repair kitchen equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork among staff.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a stewarding or kitchen management role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
