The Role

This Principal-level position takes on the lead Owners Engineer mandate for a government-owned utility multi-year capital program. Acting as the authoritative RPEQ interface, you will provide assurance, design review, and strategic advisory across electrical systems for water treatment and bulk infrastructure assets.
You will lead risk workshops, shape technical standards, solve complex network issues, and guide a team of engineers to deliver outcomes that optimise whole-of-life performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and endorse electrical engineering deliverables across concept, detailed design, and verification stages
  • Provide RPEQ sign-off and technical assurance across major water infrastructure projects
  • Oversee risk workshops, constructability, and operability reviews
  • Drive optimisation strategies for power distribution, LV/MV systems, and instrumentation
  • Prepare high-level reports, technical standards, and strategic advisory documents
  • Mentor engineers and ensure alignment with long-term asset and reliability goals
  • Support audits, condition assessments, and performance reviews

Requirements

  • RPEQ (Electrical) mandatory
  • 10+ years professional experience, with 4+ years in a Principal or Lead role
  • Strong background in Owners Engineer services for public infrastructure clients
  • Expertise in LV/MV electrical systems, protection, and distribution networks
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and review complex designs and policies
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
