About the job Technology Manager - Power Electronics, Research Labs
This position will lead research and development in the field of power electronics and drive technology advancement in the areas of power systems topologies, converters, high-power electronics; electric machines and controls; electrification of transport, energy storage, and grid connected converters; alternative power generation and distribution.
Our Customer's Research Labs department is focused on development of new technologies for future products. They define, evaluate and test product concepts for a multitude of industrial applications from miniature circuit breakers to power distribution of mega-watt scale aircraft drives.
Job brief:
You will join a group of experienced engineers and utilize your technical excellence to lead projects and teams towards innovative solutions through simulations, design, development and testing of power circuits. Together with your colleagues from different technology fields and from various countries, you will make what matters work.
The successful candidate will perform leading roles in technology projects and other activities, including strategic business unit discussions/alignment, fostering academic and partner collaboration, and representing our Customer in public occasions such as conferences and technical working groups.
The technology manager will be responsible for both project execution in the region and strategic alignment with global technology directors. The candidate will provide leadership to the department in terms of guidance and project management expertise to support Research Labs growth. All of these tasks responsibilities will be supported by the regional manager of Research Labs in EMEA.
You will be responsible for:
- Lead power electronics research, design and development activities at TRL1-5;
- Initiate innovative technology development and drive a strategic approach;
- Work with the team to deliver on the projects on time, cost and quality;
- Role-model ownership for the assigned projects, mentor and motivate colleagues;
- Contribute to financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget;
- Present project results to both internal and external stakeholders, technical and non-technical audience;
- Support team in collaboration with business divisions, universities and customers.
Main skills:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in power electronics and electronics design (DC/DC converters as an example);
- Strong understanding of circuit theory, containing power electronics (solid state circuit breaking);
- Modeling and simulation (Plecs, Altium, Eagle, Spice);
- Experience in designing cutting-edge electronics (SiC, GaN).
Personal skills:
- PhD. or Msc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
- Experience in managing R&D team - either academic or corporate;
- Team leading experience is highly beneficial;
- Excellent English both oral and written, German or Czech would be an advantage.
