RCS is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide technical expertise and guidance to drive the future of online operations in order to keep pace with industry standards. This includes understanding, designing, and developing infrastructure and infrastructure components that meet the security needs. It also includes developing updated guidance for online operations and identifying new technologies for potential integration into the Sponsors technology and systems baseline. Finally, this includes supporting current operations and keeping continuity while integrating any new technologies.
This position requires the candidate to work onsite in Chantilly, VA. Relocation assistance is not available.
What you will do:
- Oversight, deliver and integrate new technical solutions and guidance to advance the online operational objectives.
- Capable of designing, building, configuring, and maintaining infrastructure and infrastructure components to evolve online operations.
- Understand the tradecraft necessary for conducting secure online operations.
- Keep current with internet technologies and services and understand their applicability and security implications for the operations.
- Evaluate new technologies, components, and services for applicability to the activities.
- Integrate new technologies and services into an existing baseline with minimal disruption to operations.
- Research, develop, maintain, and document new methods, technology, and services for integration into the online operations.
- Conduct and provide quick-turn security and product assessments for new technologies that will be utilized on the network.
- Required to communicate and collaborate across organizational boundaries.
- Fully describe and document mission solution architecture and interfaces.
- Comply with Risk Management (i.e., cyber security) Framework to ensure that the program addresses and mitigates vulnerabilities and risks identified throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagements, such as user requirements sessions, technical exchange meetings, user feedback sessions, and operational planning.
- Track work requirements and action items to meet program deadlines.
- Use approved tracking systems for issues and problems.
- Implement changes to current technical and networking solutions based on changing partner requirements, legislation, and policy.
- Conduct functionality testing for both new and existing operational systems and applications to ensure smooth integration of new technologies with existing systems.
Required Qualifications/Education:
- Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
- Evaluating new technologies and services for compatibility with existing systems.
- Researching and developing new technologies, services, or methods for integration into existing systems and baselines.
- Integrating new technologies and services into existing systems and workflows.
- Creating evaluation, integration, and test plans for new technologies, services, and components.
- Networks and network components, to include ability to understand network architecture diagrams and related information.
- Virtual Private Servers, Virtual Private Networks, and Virtual Private Clouds.
- Virtual environments and emulated mobile devices.
- Android O/S to include an understanding of how the operating system works and its security settings.
- Domestic and foreign social media and security implications associated with utilizing social media sites.
- Commercial messaging applications and their security configurations.
- Performing technical analysis on networks and applications to evaluate security and applicability to online operations.
- Browser security settings and add-ins.
- Technical troubleshooting related to networks, hardware, internet services, and mobile applications.
- consulting with customers to determine present and future user requirements.
- Communicating complex technical topics to non-technical individuals.
- Defining, analyzing, tracking, and reviewing requirements.
Nice to Have Qualifications:
- Work within commercial cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar).
- Utilize network monitoring tools.
- Understand network fundamentals, TCP/IP routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs, Ethernet, DS1, T1, routing concepts and routing protocols, HSRP, VRRP, DHCP, switching, 802.1Q, STP, VLANs, EtherChannel, IP Addressing, Subnetting and VPN.
- Cloud networking concepts.
- Utilize Tor as a means of obfuscating online activities.
- Internet encryption protocols.
- Degree or educational background in computer science, information science, systems engineering, or related discipline.
