Head of Raw Material Stores
Role Objective
The Head of Raw Material Stores will be responsible for managing the inventory of raw materials within our warehouse and storage facility. The role holder will ensure proper receipt, storage, and disbursement of materials to production lines while maintaining accurate records, quality control, and adherence to safety regulations.
Key duties include receiving deliveries, inspecting goods, storing items appropriately, managing stock levels, issuing materials to production orders, performing regular inventory checks, and coordinating with suppliers and production teams to maintain smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and Inspection:
· Receive incoming deliveries of raw materials, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders and delivery notes.
· Conduct thorough inspections of incoming materials to identify any damage, defects, or discrepancies.
· Document and report any quality issues to relevant departments.
2. Storage and Organization:
· Properly store raw materials in designated storage areas according to labeling, rotation (FIFO), and specific handling requirements.
· Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment to facilitate easy access and stock checks.
· Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory levels and locations accurately.
3. Inventory Management:
· Monitor stock levels of raw materials to ensure adequate supply for production needs.
· Initiate purchase orders for raw materials based on predetermined inventory levels and production schedules.
· Conduct regular physical inventory counts to verify accuracy of stock records and address discrepancies.
4. Issuing Materials:
· Process material requisitions from production lines, ensuring correct quantities and quality are issued.
· Maintain accurate records of materials issued to production departments.
5. Quality Control:
· Monitor and enforce quality standards for raw materials, including sampling and testing procedures where applicable.
· Identify and address potential quality issues with suppliers.
6. Reporting and Documentation:
· Generate regular inventory reports, including stock levels, usage trends, and potential shortages.
· Maintain detailed documentation of all receiving, storage, and issuing activities.
7. Safety and Compliance:
· Ensure adherence to all safety regulations within the warehouse, including proper material handling procedures and personal protective equipment.
· Conduct safety training for warehouse staff.
Required Skills:
· Strong organizational and inventory management skills
· Attention to detail and ability to identify quality discrepancies
· Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS-SAP Business One)
· Basic understanding of production processes and raw material requirements
· Excellent communication and coordination skills to interact with suppliers and production teams
