Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Heavy Industrial Mechanical Estimator Experience Required!
Prepare cost estimates for construction and maintenance projects. Aid management in bidding on or determining price and schedule. Some key tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Read and comprehend all contract documents including specifications, project scopes, drawings and standards to prepare accurate project cost estimates.
· Accurately take off material quantities from drawings to develop material and labor pricing.
· Assemble scoped RFPs for vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing. Analyze, compare and select best value vendor and subcontractor proposals for inclusion in cost estimates.
· Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
· Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
· Prepare schedules for proposal submission.
· Attend pre-bid meetings and site walk-downs to understand project scope, conditions, physical restrictions, etc.
· Escort subcontractors on site visits, walking them through the scope of work to obtain the most accurate pricing.
· Attend post-bid review and project kick-off meetings with the owner as needed.
· Attend in-house project turnover meetings from estimating to project management.
· Understand and appropriately estimate the costs associated with safety and other project location specific work rules.
· Participate in bid review and scope review meetings and be able to explain a projects. scope and estimated project costs as well as assumptions and means/methods to upper management for approval.
· Utilize historical cost data to develop cost estimates.
· Maintain continuity among corporate, division and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
· Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results and helping other estimators as needed.
· Prepare detailed breakdown of cost estimates that facilitates review and understanding.
· Maintain quality service by following organization standards.
· Maintains knowledge of Companys values and strategic plan.
· Support published corporate policies.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirement:
· Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management, business management or related field OR minimum of 5 years of experience in Estimating or Project Controls in lieu of degree.
· 3+ years mechanical estimating experience, including process piping and process equipment.
· Skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability to present cost information to peers and management.
· Demonstrates inclusive leadership and teamwork as an estimator. Values diverse perspectives from teammates.
· Ability to support and take guidance from project estimators or estimating managers for the development of estimates from inception to completion.
· Ability to ensure estimate quality and integrity, including quality data checks.
· Basic understanding with bid evaluations of cost and schedule criteria.
· Experience using standard software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
· Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, QuoteSoft, and HCSS Heavy Bid preferred but not required.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Strong time management and prioritization skills to meet tight turnaround and bid deadlines.
· Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
· Right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
· Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
· Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly.
· Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and performing routine keyboard operations.
Requires occasional jobsite visits that may involve walking over uneven surfaces, crouching, or climbing ladders or stairs. May involve exposure to cold, heat, rain, or snow.
