Our client is a global leader in the manufacturing industry.

This role is pivotal in bolstering, maintaining, and introducing innovations for midstream manufacturing setups across the ASEAN landscape. Offering both strategic direction and hands-on operational guidance, the Engineering Manager plays a central part in moulding leaders with deep-seated knowledge in capital efficiency, engineering standards, and design methodologies. Your contributions will be crucial in optimizing resources, ensuring adept oversight of engineering initiatives, and fostering the continual growth of engineering talent in the region.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Portfolio management of all capital and asset development across ASEAN; reviewing portfolio alongside innovation pipeline.
  • Develop strategic business cases ensuring equipment technology is fit for purpose and meets market requirements.
  • Specialised technical support and minimum standards (e.g., process safety, automation).
  • Establish management, maintenance, and governance of Engineering standards across ASEAN projects.
  • Oversight on development of engineering resources and Engineering Managers in the businesses. Provide overarching leadership for the engineering talent pool across the ASEAN region.
  • Safety and Risk Management governance for the business, in key areas such as process safety and Electrical safety.
  • Manage shared resources between businesses to smooth peaks in resource demand.
  • Implement project management methodologies, governance, and provide relevant training, supporting effective resource management and leadership development.

​Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering qualifications combined with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience.
  • Brings experience and expertise in metal coating, painting, and cold rolling, particularly within the realm of Coil Coated steel manufacturing.
  • Experience(s) in other relevant industries e.g. heavy industries will also be considered.
  • Proven track record of engineering leadership and established history of driving change in global and multicultural contexts.
  • Proficiency in facilitation and coaching methodologies, with an emphasis on design thinking and management development.
  • Effective communication skills catering to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the English language to effectively engage with the relevant stakeholders.

The following experience is highly preferred:

  • Experience in working with key engineering support organisations in ASEAN.
  • Experience in Project management methodology, governance, and training.
  • Profound understanding of capital management principles.
  • Record of spearheading substantial brownfield projects valued at over $1M.
