Position Overview:
The Work Health and Safety Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring on-site compliance with WHS requirements while championing a culture of continuous safety improvement. This position partners closely with operational teams to implement robust WHS policies, procedures, and practices, ensuring that every facet of the operation meets the highest standards of safety.
Key Duties, Accountabilities, and Responsibilities
- Legislative Compliance:
Drive ongoing adherence to relevant WHS legislation through systematic monitoring, audits, and proactive remediation measures. - Operational Excellence:
Regularly review operational practices against Company Policies and Procedures, identifying gaps and suggesting improvements.
Advise and support operational teams in effectively managing WHS-related matters. - Risk Management:
Conduct daily monitoring checks, on-site audits, inspections, and comprehensive risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards. - Inductions and Training:
Facilitate thorough inductions ensuring new workers understand key risks and requirements.
Develop and deliver tailored training sessions on WHS practices for various stakeholders. - Documentation and Review:
Undertake detailed reviews of WHS documentation including work instructions, operational changes, risk assessments, incident investigations, and high-risk activities.
Maintain and update documentation to reflect current practices and legislative changes. - Project Leadership and Consultation:
Lead specific WHS projects and risk assessment initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive safety improvements.Participate in internal safety consultations and support external audits with detailed reporting and follow-up actions.
- Visitor and Contractor Management:
Ensure compliance with external visitor and contractor safety requirements, monitoring adherence to WHS protocols on-site. - Additional Responsibilities:
Utilize Microsoft Office products and industry-specific software to generate reports and track safety performance.
Apply analytical skills to problem solve and continuously enhance safety procedures.

Mandatory Requirements
- WHS Certificate IV (minimum).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a dedicated WHS role with demonstrable risk management expertise, including risk assessments.
- Proven ability to guide and influence behaviors to achieve WHS targets.
- Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
- Quality Auditing qualification
- Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards.
- Experience conducting investigations
- OHS Construction Induction certification.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive WHS documentation.
- Substantial proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant industry software.
