About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Leading Hand Electrician to join our team in Cardiff. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of underground mining equipment, including shuttle cars, miners, multi bolters, and shearers. You will ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Leading Hand Electrician, you will:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of electricians and apprentices.
  • Assign tasks and projects to team members based on skill level and workload.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members as needed.
  • Monitor progress and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Enforce safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards or violations.
  • Ensure that all team members are trained in safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments as needed.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Trade skills and knowledge of electrical repair and installation procedures.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in new/overhaul and repair of underground mining equipment.
  • Current AS3800 certificate.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical equipment and installation issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals.
  • Sound computer literacy in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP systems experience.
  • Valid Drivers Licence.
  • Qualified supervisor or contractor licence.
