About the job General Manager (Operations)
To strengthen manufacturing operations, our client is inviting applications for General Manager - Operations position from B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering background (MBA in Operations is preferred) with Minimum 15+ years in EMS/ODM manufacturing (preferably in Kitchen ) Appliances, Consumer Electronics, or Mobile Accessories industries.
Strong background in kitchen appliances, wearable & hearable, production planning, and warehouse management.Experienced to drive end-to-end factory operations, enhance production efficiency, and ensure seamless coordination across departments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Manufacturing Management
- Oversee end-to-end production processes for all product categories, ensuring
- quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies to improve
- operational efficiency.
- Drive automation and process optimization to reduce wastage, enhance yield, and improve production flow.
- Ensure smooth coordination across assembly lines, quality control, supply chain, and logistics.
- Lead production planning & control (PPC) to meet customer demand while optimizing resources.
2. Supply Chain & Inventory Management
- Collaborate with procurement teams to maintain optimal stock levels of raw
- materials and components.
- Develop and execute supplier management strategies to ensure the timely
- availability of essential components.
- Monitor inventory levels, material consumption, and demand forecasting to
- prevent shortages and overstocking.
Implement material loss control measures to optimize inventory utilization.
3. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to BIS, ISO, RoHS, SEDEX and other industry standards.
- Implement zero-defect quality initiatives to minimize rejections and returns.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain product excellence and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the New Product Introduction (NPI) process ensuring first-time-right production.
- Maintain quality management systems (QMS) including ISO 9001:2015 & 14001:2015 compliance.
4. Team Leadership & Cross-Department Collaboration
- Lead production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to align with
- organizational goals.
- Mentor and develop mid-level managers and department heads to enhance
- productivity and efficiency.
- Collaborate with R&D, design, and marketing teams to integrate customer feedback into product improvements.
- Ensure training and skill development programs for employees, focusing on process optimization and compliance.
5. Financial & Cost Optimization
- Implement cost reduction strategies while maintaining product quality and
- efficiency.
- Develop operational budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial discipline across manufacturing units.
- Drive profitability improvement initiatives by optimizing resource utilization.
- Work on operational consistency and process stability to lower production costs.
6. Compliance & Safety Regulations
- Ensure compliance with industrial safety norms, labor laws, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a safe and secure working environment by implementing workplace
- safety protocols and training programs.
- Lead incident investigations and risk assessments to enhance factory safety
- standards.
- Ensure E-Waste management compliance as per CPCB guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of assembly processes.
- Proficiency in ERP, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of BIS, ISO, RoHS, SEDEX and other compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience in factory audits, new product development (NPD), and process validation.
Leadership Skills:
- Proven ability to lead large manufacturing teams and drive operational excellence.
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills to enhance collaboration and efficiency.
- Ability to coach and develop vertical heads into strong leaders.
Problem-Solving:
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills to troubleshoot production and operational challenges effectively.
- Ability to implement continuous improvement strategies for long-term sustainability.
