JOB SCOPE

This position plans, directs, and leads the development of a new manufacturing site. This will include, but not limited to, the facilities and maintenance services, and engineering. The Project Engineer provides technical guidance and collaborative leadership skills, insuring sound engineering practices and effective use of our facilities, processes and maintenance operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plans and collaborates the work of the highly skilled staff, placing particular emphasis on operations uptime and project management methods.
  2. Leads pro-active Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program while guiding the maintenance operation, toward 100% equipment up time.
  3. Supports and provides expertise safety programs throughout the enterprise, including OSHA, DEP, and NFPA requirements, the design and delivery of all safety programs and monitoring of said programs.
  4. In a cross-function environment, they lead and direct staff to accomplish goals efficiently. Responsible for the recruitment, evaluation, and development of staff in assigned departments.
  5. Manages the progress of projects, confers with project engineers, and ensures reporting mechanisms are in place to see that development is progressing according to schedule and within budgetary and time guidelines.
  6. Works collaboratively with the C.E.O., and all levels of management to establish and reach short and long-range operating goals.
  7. Collaborates with outside vendors and contractors on equipment.
  8. Monitors and assures metrics are achieved for assigned areas. Also monitors that all assigned departments are achieving objectives.
  9. Monitors work area processing to assure all operators are trained and follow procedures and work instructions.
  10. Leads plan to develop and design the New Talalay Manufacturing Site as well as collaborating with Director of IT and the new warehouse in North Carolina, in a cross functional environment.
  11. Travel up to 3 weeks a month.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

  • Automation and new methods in the Talalay process to implement in a new manufacturing site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering; master's degree in a related field a plus.
  • Ten years of experience in increasingly complex, technical supervisory positions.
  • Skilled at Structured Problem Analysis.
  • Proven experience in capital project management.
  • Familiar with OSHA DEP, and NFPA guidelines, and plant safety requirements.
  • Excellent verbal, written, technical, conceptual, and financial skills.
  • Ability to be a strong team member as well as lead teams.
  • Strong Project Management Skills in a collaborative manner.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Project and other Office Microsoft Office software applications, GANTT, PERT and CPM charts.
  • Understands management of manufacturing maintenance operations.
  • Familiar with Lean manufacturing methods.
  • Good understanding of planning and scheduling.
  • Strong aptitude toward driving programs to completion in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of CAD, CAE and CAM engineering tools and Great Plains is required.
