Job Overview: The Medical/Surgical RN provides comprehensive care to patients who are recovering from surgical procedures or managing complex medical conditions. This role requires a high level of expertise in medical-surgical nursing practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a healthcare team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitoring vital signs and symptoms, and reporting any significant changes to the physician.
  • Operating and tracking medical equipment.
  • Running and ordering tests as required and interpreting results.
  • Coordinating care with physicians and specialists.
  • Charting patient progress and maintaining accurate health records.
  • Educating patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
  • Adhering to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • BLS/ACLS certification.
  • Proven experience as a Medical-Surgical Nurse.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination, etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times.
  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Responsible and compassionate.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and moving patients.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced medical/surgical unit within a hospital or healthcare facility.
