Job Overview: The Medical/Surgical RN provides comprehensive care to patients who are recovering from surgical procedures or managing complex medical conditions. This role requires a high level of expertise in medical-surgical nursing practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a healthcare team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
 - Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
 - Monitoring vital signs and symptoms, and reporting any significant changes to the physician.
 - Operating and tracking medical equipment.
 - Running and ordering tests as required and interpreting results.
 - Coordinating care with physicians and specialists.
 - Charting patient progress and maintaining accurate health records.
 - Educating patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
 - Adhering to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.
 
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
 - BLS/ACLS certification.
 - Proven experience as a Medical-Surgical Nurse.
 - Strong knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
 - In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination, etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times.
 - A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 - Responsible and compassionate.
 
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
 - Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting.
 
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and moving patients.
 
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced medical/surgical unit within a hospital or healthcare facility.
