About the Role
The VP for Commercial Sales / Chief Commercial Officer will lead the overall commercial strategy and revenue growth of an established company in the Philippine downstream petroleum and energy industry.
This senior leadership role will oversee key revenue-generating areas, including retail petroleum, B2B fuels, lubricants, and industrial business segments. The successful candidate will also build and strengthen strategic relationships across industries such as construction, mining, fishing and maritime, transport and logistics, asphalt, and other industrial sectors.
This role is ideal for a commercially driven executive who can combine strategy, sales leadership, key account management, P&L ownership, and strong market relationships to deliver sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Lead and drive the overall commercial strategy across retail, B2B fuels, lubricants, and industrial business segments.
- Identify and pursue revenue opportunities across key industries, including construction, mining, fishing/maritime, transport/logistics, asphalt production, and other petroleum-intensive sectors.
- Develop go-to-market strategies covering pricing, channel mix, customer acquisition, and retention.
- Establish commercial KPIs and performance targets for revenue-generating teams and ensure accountability through regular performance reviews.
Sales Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop commercial teams covering retail sales, key accounts, fleet and industrial sales, dealer networks, and inside sales.
- Build sales capabilities across all levels through structured coaching, performance management, and talent development.
- Establish consistent sales processes, pipeline management, and forecasting practices across all channels.
- Work closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Finance to support customer delivery and margin performance.
Key Accounts & Strategic Partnerships
- Manage and grow major commercial accounts across construction, mining, fishing/maritime, transport, asphalt, and industrial sectors.
- Build long-term, high-value relationships with key customers and business partners.
- Identify and close strategic partnerships, fleet agreements, and bulk supply contracts.
- Lead negotiations for large-scale fuel supply agreements while protecting commercial terms and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor pricing, industry developments, regulatory changes, market trends, and emerging opportunities within the downstream petroleum sector.
- Use market insights to refine commercial strategies and identify new areas for growth.
- Champion customer insights to support product, service, and pricing decisions.
P&L & Financial Management
- Own the commercial P&L across retail and B2B segments, balancing volume growth, margin management, and customer profitability.
- Partner with Finance in preparing annual commercial budgets, revenue forecasts, and business cases for growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
- MBA or postgraduate degree in Business, Commerce, or Sales Management is strongly preferred.
- At least 12–15 years of progressive commercial or sales leadership experience.
- At least 5 years in a senior executive or C-suite commercial leadership role.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth across multiple business segments.
- Experience in petroleum, fuels, lubricants, downstream energy, or a closely related industry is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial relationships within Philippine industries such as construction, mining, fishing/maritime, transport/logistics, asphalt, and industrial sectors.
- Experience leading large and geographically dispersed commercial teams with full P&L accountability.
- Proven success in closing large-scale fuel supply contracts, fleet agreements, or bulk commodity deals.
- Experience working in a fast-paced downstream petroleum or energy environment is a significant advantage.

- Proven ability to protect margins while maintaining long-term customer relationships.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution.
- Established network and credibility within the Philippine petroleum, industrial, or commercial fuels sector.
- Strong executive presence and people leadership capability.
- Data-driven approach with a good understanding of commercial analytics, sales pipelines, and revenue forecasting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or equivalent and commercial analytics tools is an advantage.
