Contract Acute Care Registered Nurse – Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery & Med‑Surg

Location: Farmington, NM Contract Type: Full-Time Contract Residency Requirement: Candidates must live within 60 miles of the facility to qualify (distance may be flexible due to high need).

Overview

We are seeking experienced Emergency Department (ED), Labor & Delivery (L&D), and Med‑Surg Registered Nurses to support our partner facility in Farmington, New Mexico. These contract roles are ideal for RNs who excel in acute care environments and are committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care. You'll join a collaborative clinical team dedicated to strong outcomes and exceptional patient support across multiple high‑need units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to acute and complex patients in ED, L&D, or Med‑Surg units.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, triage, and rapid-response interventions (ED).
  • Support labor, delivery, postpartum care, and fetal monitoring (L&D).
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to unit protocols.
  • Monitor patient conditions, interpret clinical data, and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Uphold all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Mexico.
  • Must live within 60 miles of the facility (flexibility may be considered due to high staffing need).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent acute care experience in ED, L&D, or Med‑Surg.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA preferred).
  • Additional certifications depending on unit:

    • NRP for L&D
    • TNCC or ENPC preferred for ED
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty certifications such as RNC‑OB, CMSRN, or other acute care credentials.
  • Experience in high-volume or high-acuity units.
  • Ability to manage multiple patients and shifting priorities.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time contract hours; shifts may include days, nights, weekends, or rotating schedules based on department needs.
