Associate Attorney (0–3 Years Experience)

Flexible Hours | Part-Time | Fredericksburg, VA

Our Client is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 0 to 3 years of experience to join the firm in a flexible-hours, part-time role based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with the potential to transition to full-time.

This opportunity is ideal for an early-career attorney who is eager to gain meaningful experience across a variety of civil practice areas while working closely with the Managing Attorney in a collaborative environment.

The firms primary practice areas include real estate litigation, landlord-tenant matters, estate planning, collections, and business law. Associates will play an important role in supporting the practice while developing hands-on legal experience.

Associates will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and appear in court, making this an excellent role for someone who is looking to build practical litigation and client-facing experience early in their legal career.

Competitive compensation will be offered and will be commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general legal support to the practice
  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence
  • Conduct legal research in support of client matters and case preparation
  • Communicate with clients and collaborate closely with the Managing Attorney
  • Appear in court when appropriate and represent clients under supervision
  • Assist with administrative and operational tasks that support the daily functions of the practice
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team to ensure matters progress efficiently

Qualifications

  • 0 to 3 years of legal experience preferred
  • Current law school students will be considered
  • Experience in legal research and legal drafting required
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong writing ability and proper grammar being a top priority
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
  • Experience with computer software applications used in legal research and document drafting, including Microsoft Office and LexisNexis
  • Experience with MyCase and Trustate is a plus
  • Experience in civil litigation, real estate transactions, contract drafting, and personal injury claims is a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards
