The Medical Physicist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective delivery of radiation therapy, while supporting clinical operations, quality assurance, and program development.
Responsibilities
- Oversee calibration and quality assurance of radiation therapy equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines (AAPM, ASTRO, ACR, ACRO)
- Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists to develop and optimize treatment plans
- Support advanced treatment techniques including SBRT, SRS, and HDR
- Monitor imaging systems and ensure proper dose delivery and patient safety
- Conduct performance evaluations of radiation and imaging equipment
- Assist with implementation of new technologies, procedures, and protocols
- Provide clinical consultation, education, and support to staff
- Partner with leadership on strategic planning, safety initiatives, and program development
Requirements
- Master's degree in Medical Physics required
- Board Certified – American Board of Radiology (Therapeutic Physics)
- 5+ years of experience in radiation oncology/medical physics
- Experience with SBRT, SRS, and HDR required
- Experience with Varian equipment (TrueBeam, Aria, Eclipse) strongly preferred
