P/T Paralegal (Civil Experience - hybrid)

Our Client is seeking a Paralegal or early-career Associate Attorney to join the firm in a part-time hybrid role based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time in the future.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the firm owner and gain meaningful experience supporting a civil practice. The selected candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the firm, providing legal and administrative support while helping ensure matters move forward efficiently and professionally.
Depending on qualifications, Associate Attorneys will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and appear in court, making this an excellent role for someone looking to build hands-on experience in a collaborative legal environment.
Competitive compensation will be offered and will be commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general support to the practice and assist with day-to-day operations
- Draft legal documents and correspondence
- Conduct legal research to support case preparation and client matters
- Communicate with clients and collaborate directly with the firm owner
- Assist with administrative tasks and coordination across the practice
- For Associate Attorneys: work directly with clients and appear in court when appropriate
Qualifications
- Civil law practice experience is required. The firm is not currently able to provide training for candidates without prior civil practice experience.
- Minimum Bachelors degree in paralegal studies, law, or a related field, or significant prior experience as a paralegal in civil practice
- Current law school students will be considered
- Experience with legal research and legal drafting required
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong writing ability and proper grammar being a top priority
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Experience with computer software applications used in legal research and document drafting, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with FindLaw, MyCase, and WealthCounsel is a plus
- Experience in civil litigation, contract drafting, and personal injury claims is a plus
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards
