The Operation Officer plays an important role in managing the container movement at the port. The incumbent coordinates and collaborates with different stakeholders to ensure that all movements in the Port are done on time and accurately.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Container Van Management
Managing the containers, and CY processes.

Ensure that the container vans are of good quality and readily available for the clients.

  • Daily monitor and inspection of all the container vans located in the yard, ensuring that these units are in good condition, and readily available for any client requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Container Yard Jr. Manager and Container Control Officer in planning the yard layout to accommodate incoming containers and allow smooth operation of handling the equipment.
  • Coordinate and request for repair of vans and issuance of containers with Technical Services LBE.
  • Oversee the container van processing such as van out and stripping, outbound and inbound processes, checking, posting and other container van related activities.
  • Monitor the equipment used for container vans such as forklift, reach stocker, side lifter and others and coordinate with Technical Services LBE for any maintenance requests.

Administrative tasks for container van management

Reporting, documentation, and team management

Ensures that the reports are updated, all documents are checked and signed accordingly.

  • Ensure the data and reports are updated using the daily dashboard which includes in yard reports, container transfers, served containers, strippings, van outs, available vans, minor and major bad order (BO)
  • Manual monitoring of fuel consumptions of trucks and other equipment that requires fuels.
  • Approval of documents such as but not limited to gate pass, Authorize to Withdraw (ATW) Containers, received items, office supplies and others.

Leadership function in the Container yard.

Provide leadership and team supervision to subordinates.

Ensure the proper leadership and supervision to the checkers, encoders, CCOs and Raptor/Coordinator is done.

  • Provide leadership and supervision to container yard personnels who are directly reporting to him/her.
  • Manage and allocate the resources effectively including personnel, equipment, and facilities to meet the operational goals.
  • Establish effective communication channels within the team.
  • Promote culture of safety within the container yard.
  • Implement performance management through assessment, coaching and feedback.

JOB QUALIFICATION & SPECIFICATION

Educational Background:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or related field.

Years of Related Experience:

  • Preferably with 5 or more years experience in container yard operations, cargo handling, or similar role is preferred.
