The Mechanical Maintenance Specialist is responsible for diagnosing complex mechanical issues to ensure that all the heavy equipment, trucking, forward trucking and other equipment in LBE operates smoothly and safely and ensures the equipments availability. The incumbent adheres mechanical maintenance schedules, conducts advanced and complex electrical troubleshooting and repair programs, and collaborates with technicians in conducting these troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Ensure to conduct advanced or complex mechanical maintenance activities to achieve land based equipments longevity, reliability and optimal performance.

  • Inspects and evaluates units and equipment and collaborates with the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor for the checklist for repair.
  • Assemble and disassemble the mechanical parts and conduct pressure test and checking, inspecting hydraulics, transmissions, engines during troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling. Create Service Reports for every defect job done.
  • Evaluate components such as injection pump, and conduct greasing of joints and bolts
  • Adhere to the maintenance schedule from the Maintenance Planner.
  • Set up alerts or notifications for mechanical equipment when it deviates from expected performance parameters.
  • Apply Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles to determine the most critical equipment and the appropriate maintenance strategies for each equipment.
  • Conduct investigations when equipment failures occur to identify the underlying causes and implement corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of similar issues.
  • Implement a comprehensive asset health management program that includes regular inspections, testing, and monitoring of equipment, parts and components, and prepare the Evaluate Equipment Report (EER) for components to be replaced
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors in monitoring of mechanical spare parts inventory and ensuring that critical components are readily available.
  • Regularly review and refine mechanical maintenance procedures based on performance data and feedback.
  • Provide training to all mechanical technicians to ensure proficiency in the latest maintenance techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) or a Registered Mechanical Engineering (RME) is an advantage.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical maintenance.
