Job description
The Vessel Electrical is responsible for leading the crew-based electricians in maintaining,
troubleshooting, reconditioning and repairing electrical components on board a vessel either
remote, drydock, anchorage, or voyage.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensuring the maintenance and repair of the vessels electrical system is
done according to safety guidelines
1. Gather the necessary tools, equipment, and materials and safety
for the turbocharger maintenance and repair.
2. Complete all the required PPE for the task and ensure compliance
to electrical safety protocols and procedures.
3. Review documents, manuals, technical specifications and guides,
maintenance history related to the vessels electrical system
4. Lead the crew-based electricians in assembling, installing, testing,
and repairing electrical or electronic wiring, equipment,
appliances, apparatus, or fixtures in the main and auxiliary engine
of the vessel using hand tools or power tools.
5. Execute preventive maintenance on the shipboard as scheduled
6. Perform troubleshooting of electrical control the in-deck crane,
main engine, and auxiliary engine safety devices in the shipboard
7. Identifying faults or hazards.
8. Recommend equipment replacement.
9. Initiate and complete all other jobs, projects, and special
assignments as directed by Electrical Supervisor
10. Attend sea trials for monitoring and support crew-based
electricians in emergency troubleshooting.
11. Record all maintenance documents such as Work Job Done
Report, after completion of project/task to be informed by
attending lead technical officer and reviewing prior submission
Qualifications:
- Candidates must possess at least a Diploma in Marine
- Electronics, Electrical Engineering Maintenance or other courses related to vessel maintenance.
- Must have Electrician Qualification Certificates
- At least 1 to 3 years experience in troubleshooting electrical problems in vessels.
- Good track record as Maintenance Electrician
