Location: All Offices or Remote
Summary
Interfaces with all levels of various staff to direct regulatory permit and other required processes as related to federal and state wetlands and/or endangered species permitting processes.
Duties
- Primary representative/contact for the Company and clients with federal and state agencies, and city and county offices, etc.
- Facilitate and prepare, of varying levels of complexity, environmental and species related permit application and coordination in accordance with the requirements of the:
- United States Army Corps of Engineers
- California Department of Fish & Wildlife
- State Lands Commission, United States Fish and Wildlife Service
- State Water Resources Control Board
- Regional Water Quality Control Board
- Central Valley Flood Protection Board
- United States Bureau of Reclamation
- Facilitate federal and state consultations and permitting approvals
- Prepare, track and process appropriate permit applications for a variety of project types and activities.
- Develop, coordinate, and negotiate mitigation strategies including coordination with mitigation banks, in cooperation with client staff and engineering teams to minimize projects impacts related to cost and schedule
- Manage and adhere to project schedules and budgets.
- Full understanding of federal, state and local regulations and jurisdictions.
- Able to direct staff in performing Aquatic Resources Delineations (Wetland Delineations) and preparing Aquatic Resource Delineation Reports meeting United States Army Corps of Engineers standards to support permitting efforts and requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience), preferably in an environmental science, biology or related field.
- 6+ years experience in the federal and state wetlands permitting, endangered species permitting, or environmental planning field with an emphasis on permitting
- Advanced knowledge of wetland and endangered species regulations in California.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and develop effective working relationships with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to effectively coordinate and lead project meetings related to permitting requirements efficiently and cohesively for the project team.
- Proven ability to write technical information using appropriate grammar, punctuation, and spelling for concise readability and clarity.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite
