Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Adult Psychiatric & Addiction Unit functions as a caregiver for a defined patient population to achieve desired outcomes. This role provides effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team supporting patients with complex behavioral health and substance use needs. The RN also directs and oversees care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination, and helps ensure strong collaboration among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.
Key Responsibilities

Provide safe, therapeutic, evidence-based nursing care for adult psychiatric and addiction populations

Complete nursing assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and evaluate patient response to interventions

Administer medications and monitor effectiveness and side effects, including patient education and follow-up

Support crisis intervention, de-escalation, and safety practices to maintain a secure treatment environment

Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (providers, social work/case management, therapy staff, and support services) to coordinate treatment and discharge planning

Delegate and coordinate care activities to other caregivers; validate, evaluate, and oversee delegated work

Communicate clearly with patients, families (as appropriate), and the care team to support continuity of care

Maintain accurate, timely documentation and comply with unit policies, standards of care, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

New Jersey Professional Registered Nurse (RN) license

AHA BLS/CPR certification required within 60 days of hire

BSN in progress and/or willing to obtain within three (3) years of hire (applies to team members hired on or after November 2019)

Six (6) months or more of relevant nursing experience
