Description
Promotes and sells frozen fruits and vegetables to North American food service (distributors and operators) and industrial customers who use these ingredients to create finished products, such as pizza manufacturers, pet food producers, ready meal companies, soup makers, baby food producers, and more.
Prospects for new accounts, secures appointments, determines needs, delivers sales presentations, negotiates terms and conditions, overcomes objections, and closes sales.
Develops strategies focused on expanding the client base within defined market segments.
Produces new account revenue in line with current organization and individual targets/quotas.
Responsibilities are within the New Account Acquisition Sales Function with a focus on the food manufacturing and processing industries.
Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to drive revenue growth in the industrial and food service sectors. This role requires a deep understanding of ingredient applications and production processes and involves strategic planning, market analysis, and cultivating long-term client relationships to expand the company's presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans to drive company growth in the North American industrial and food service sector.
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities through research, networking, and industry events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, understanding their specific needs in food manufacturing and processing.
- Collaborate with marketing, customer service, and product development teams to align growth strategies and tailor solutions for industrial and food service applications.
- Prepare compelling presentations and proposals demonstrating the technical benefits of frozen fruits and vegetables for various industrial and food service applications to attract and secure new clients.
- Track market trends, competitor activities, customer needs, and industry regulations to inform business strategies.
- Provide technical insights on product functionality, processing techniques, and supply chain optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in business, marketing, food science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships within the food manufacturing or processing industries.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
- Technical knowledge of food processing, ingredient functionality, and regulatory requirements in North America
- Ability to manage complex sales cycles and understand customer requirements for quality, consistency, and cost-efficiency.
- Willingness to travel within North America mainly, but occasionally to Europe.
