Title: Registered Nurse, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
Type: Local contract, 40 hours weekly
Shift Schedule: Rotating 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts across SCI inpatient units. Shift coverage will be variable, emphasis will be on evening and night with the potential to fill day shift tours as needed.
Location: Cleveland, OH
Dates: 24 month contract

The Spinal Cord Injury Registered Nurse will provide specialized nursing care for patients with spinal cord injuries and related neurological disorders. The SCI inpatient units provide acute, sub-acute, rehabilitation, and long-term care services designed to support medical stabilization, rehabilitation, prevention of complications, and optimization of patient independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient assessments and ongoing monitoring
- Medication administration
- IV therapy
- Bowel care and bladder management
- Dressing changes and wound care
- Assistance with activities of daily living
- Interdisciplinary team coordination
- Admissions, discharges, and internal/external transfers
- Delegating to assistive personnel
- Electronic medical record documentation
- Patient transport
- Emergency response procedures
- Monitoring for respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurogenic complications
- Rehabilitation support and adaptive training
- Patient and family education related to spinal cord injury care and recovery
- Prevention and management of pressure injuries and urinary tract infections
- Psychosocial support and discharge planning
- Supporting rehabilitation and functional independence goals
- Participation in quality improvement activities and staff meetings
Requirements
- Graduation from a school of professional nursing accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- Current license from the Ohio Board of Nursing or current multi-state license from a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
- Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of two (2) years of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years
- Experience with rehabilitation, neurological, or spinal cord injury patients preferred
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
- Demonstrated competency in electronic health record documentation
- Ability to work days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
