Our client, an elite investment banking boutique, is seeking a talented Associate 1/2 to join their Financial Institutions Group (FIG) M&A team in New York. The team specializes in asset management and specialty finance. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with preeminent clients on complex M&A transactions within these specialized sectors.
About the Role:
The FIG M&A team focuses exclusively on M&A transactions for financial institutions, with a particular emphasis on asset managers (including private equity, private credit, infrastructure, venture capital, real estate, etc.) and specialty finance companies. The team provides best-in-class strategic advice and execution in these niche areas. Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience within investment banking, with a focus on FIG M&A transactions
- Strong preference for bulge bracket FIG M&A experience
- Proven track record working on executed M&A deals in the financial institutions sector, particularly in asset management or specialty finance
- Unwavering integrity
- Extraordinarily high level of motivation and commitment
- Collaborative approach and desire to work closely with small, focused teams
- Commercial instinct and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines
- High level of focus on work quality and attention to detail
- Superior financial modeling and valuation skills, especially as applied to financial institutions
- Comfort reading and interpreting financial statements of asset managers and specialty finance firms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree required; an MBA, CA and/or CFA designation would be an asset
- Series 79 and 63 licensing required (or must obtain)
Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in executing M&A transactions for asset management and specialty finance clients
- Lead and coordinate various aspects of the FIG M&A process
- Prepare high-quality client materials, including pitch books, offering memoranda, and complex financial models tailored to financial institutions
- Conduct in-depth industry and company-specific research and analysis within the asset management and specialty finance sectors
- Participate in client meetings and presentations
- Work closely with senior bankers to develop and execute M&A strategies for FIG clients
- Mentor and guide junior team members on FIG-specific analysis and deal execution

Compensation:
The firm offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $175,000 to $225,000 for seasoned Associates. Total compensation includes performance-based bonuses and may include long-term incentives. The actual compensation will be determined based on various factors including experience, skills, and performance in FIG M&A transactions.
